IADS members from School of Mathematical Sciences secured new research grants
6 November 2020
Congratulations to Dr Silvia Liverani and Professor Michael Farber from the School of Mathematical Sciences, Queen Mary University of London, for securing new research funding for artificial intelligence assisted research projects.
Dr Silvia Liverani, Senior Lecturer in Statistics, was successful in her application as Co-Investigator to the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Barts Health NHS Trust. Together with the PI, Prof Nicholas Croft, based in the Blizard Institute, they secured £50k from the ERDF, which was match-funded to a total of £100k by the Barts Charity for their project: "Developing AI - Vigilance, a disease monitoring and tracking algorithm".
Professor Michael Farber, Professor of Mathematics and Director of IADS, was successful in securing funding through the NSF-EPSRC Lead Agency Agreement for his project: "Topology of automated motion planning". This is a joint grant with the EPSRC funding £447,340 (fEC) and the NSF component of this project overseen by Professor Schmuel Weinberger, Andrew MacLeish Distinguished Professor of Mathematics at the University of Chicago, amounting to $319,615.
