Industrial Collaboration Funding Opportunities and Knowledge Transfer Network Events

Innovate UK Smart Grants

Opportunity for UK registered organisations to apply for a share of up to £25 million from Innovate UK to deliver disruptive R&D innovations that can significantly impact the UK economy.

Deadline: 20 January 2021

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships

UK registered higher or further education institutions, RTOs or Catapults can apply for a share of up to £10 million to help fund innovation projects with businesses

Deadlines: 27 January 2021 and 14 April 2021

BBSRC Industrial Partnership Awards (IPAs)

IPAs are academic-led, responsive mode grants that have significant industrial involvement and industry partner(s) contributes in cash at least equivalent to 10% of the full project costs. Additional in-kind contributions from industry are welcome but do not count against the industry contribution.

EPSRC Discipline hopping in information and communication technologies (ICT)

Discipline Hopping Awards will provide short-term support to allow researchers from core ICT fields with other disciplines and/or user fields. The aim of this is to foster new interactions, bringing a multidisciplinary and user-driven focus to research. Alternatively, non ICT specialists can apply for funds to bring a technological perspective to their home discipline.

STFC Challenge Led Applied Systems Programme (CLASP): Healthcare and Energy

STFC runs CLASP to support the application and commercialisation of STFC research in four key global research challenge areas; Energy, Environment, Healthcare, and Security. CLASP is intended to support the de-risking of R&D processes for industry through the development of technology demonstrators and industry-ready prototype systems (moving research outputs from TRL 3 approx.). Applications should aim to address market needs by working closely with the end users, with support/collaboration from appropriate industrial partners to ensure route to market.

The Open Call welcomes innovations that address defence and/or security challenges. Your idea could be a concept, technology, product or service, and bids are sought at various levels of maturity.
