IADS PhD Student Forum kicks off today!

The IADS PhD Student Forum initiative had its kick-off event today!
This event was led and organised by 3 PhD students from across Queen Mary University of London: Saeid Ghafouri, PhD Student in Cloud Computing and Machine Learning, School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, Midori Lucille Calmon, PhD student in Complex Systems and Networks, School of Mathematical Sciences, and Hanlin Sun, PhD student in Complex Systems and Networks, School of Mathematical Sciences. The kick-off event gathered over 30 PhD students and guest attendees, including Dr Gareth Tyson, Deputy Director of IADS, and other IADS academics.
The IADS PhD Student Forum is the PhD student branch of IADS. It is organized by PhD students for PhD students, spanning all faculties at QMUL. Through a series of events and meetings, the IADS PhD Student Forum aim is to provide PhD students from all data science-related disciplines with an open space for collaborative research, learning, and above-all having fun finding new friends.
Professor Michael Farber, Director of IADS, said: "The IADS PhD Student Forum is a very important initiative which will help the QMUL PhD students in data science to be successful in their research, to be aware of research activities of their colleagues and it will also help them to meet each other socially."
The IADS PhD Student Forum will be hosting its second event on Tuesday, 16 February 2021, 11AM-12PM.
